The game is a side-scrolling system activity, with the managed personality having to jump, go up, run and come down from system to system. There is an exemption during the level The Stampede, where Simba is operating towards (or in the Game Boy edition, operating with the digicam looking downward on top of him, while the Game Equipment edition is a part scrolling platformer like the other stages) the digicam avoiding wildebeest and bouncing over stones.
In most editions of the activity two cafes appear on the HUD. To the staying is the scream gauge, which must be completely billed for Simba's scream to be efficient. To the right is the wellness bar which reduces when Simba is harm. At the end staying of the display is a reverse displaying how many lifestyles Simba has staying. Insects of various designs can be gathered, repairing wellness or allowing rewards. Some unusual health-damaging bugs also are available.
The gamer manages Simba (first as a cub, then later as an adult) in the primary levels and either Timon or Pumbaa in the reward levels.
